Blogging Mistakes for Beginners to Avoid

Blogging can be an effective way to reach an audience, build brand awareness, and establish oneself as an authority in a particular field. However, there are several common mistakes that bloggers make, which can negatively impact their blog’s success.

Checkout these Blogging Mistakes for Beginners which are some of the most important ones to avoid.

Top Blogging Mistakes for Beginners

Never worked from Office

I found it one of the major mistakes of my journey. I always preferred working from home. Result: Less productive. But given lots of time to family and close people.

Advice: Prefer working from the office, either take a co-working space.

Fascinated by New things in Blogging

I wasted almost 1-2 years of my starting time due to this. I was on the right track but listened to quick money schemes like event blogging and all. I ranked event blogs and made some good money.

But unable to make assets.
These days, Web stories, Script sites, AI, and Automation are kind of the same.

So what does mean by Asset?

These sites are quick money-making, but you can only make money by Ad revenue. It doesn’t have any value. You cannot sell whenever you want.

Advice: Focus on Asset building, raise blog jinka kuch value ho, build subscribers/readers base, can sell at good price.

Never built a Brand or Authority Site

Today in Google updates, which sites are hitting mostly?

Almost new sites, fewer authority sites. Sites having lots of authority are less prone to be hit by updates. (It is also an asset)

Advice: Choose a niche, and try to make an authority site, like stay there for 5 years or 6 years.

Not Building Portfolio, Branding, etc

The portfolio is important. I never made any portfolio. I just have a blog related to SEO & Blogging, but I have not tried Portfolio on Upwork or Fivver, or an agency. But I didn’t make it.

People are making 5K, 10K USD with just 3-4 year experience on Upwork fivver. Imagine a person with a 9-year of experience portfolio, A whole agency could have been made.

Advice: A portfolio is most important. Either blog or any Freelancing site.

Neglecting Social Media and YouTube

Before Jio, I had 5000 Subscribers in the Blogging niche YouTube channel with just 9 videos. I stopped it. I should have considered YouTube as an Asset and built a large audience.

Social media can help you reach a wider audience and drive more traffic to your blog. Neglecting social media or not using it effectively can hinder the growth of your blog.

Engaging with your readers through comments, social media, and email can help you build a loyal following and increase the visibility of your blog.

Advice: If you have something like this (YouTube, Insta Page, Fb page, Twitter). Keep growing it.

No Core Team

I have a team, but they are not permanent. So I was unable to make my own core team due to work from the home approach.

Advice: If you started making good money. Invest in your business, shift to the office, and make the core team.

Overthinking

  1.

I used to do lots of overthinking, Almost all of do. Today also we keep doing it. I came across many profitable niche ideas, that can make $50 per day to $300 per day but don’t know why I am not able to take quick action on making sites. (I think due to overthinking and no core team)

Advice: Don’t think much, if you find some potential niche, start that.

Close Some income sources

Like I was making good money from Adsense in 2018. Due to being hit by Google, I left Adsense and fully focused on Affiliate.
left all AdSense sites.
Later few of them revived and I got payments in lakhs but couldn’t focus on them. Due to the focus on affiliate Marketing.

Not Promoting Your Blog

Simply writing and publishing blog posts is not enough to build an audience. You need to actively promote your blog through social media, guest posting, and other marketing channels.

Advice: If no interest in something like Adsense, things can be automated by hiring people.

By avoiding these common mistakes, you can increase the chances of success for your blog and reach your goals.

These are Blogging Mistakes for Beginners which I personally experienced in my case but I would like to highlight some more mistakes commonly made by newbie bloggers.

Poor Content Quality

Using AI tools to write your blogs and hiring someone to write your first blog is one of the biggest blogging mistakes you will ever make.

If the content of your blog is poorly written, poorly researched, or lacks originality, it will be difficult to attract and retain an audience. Not optimizing your blog for search engines can make it difficult for potential readers to find your content.

Many new bloggers failed to get AdSense approval because of low-quality content.

Not Staying Current

Not staying current refers to the failure of bloggers to keep up with the latest developments and best practices in the blogging industry. This can result in a number of negative consequences for their blog, such as:

  1. Outdated Content: If your blog is not up-to-date with the latest information, your content will become outdated and less relevant to your audience. This can result in a loss of credibility and traffic.

  2. Ineffective Techniques: The techniques used for blogging, such as search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing, are constantly changing. If you’re not staying current, you may be using outdated techniques that are no longer effective, which can result in a lack of traffic and engagement.

  3. Missed Opportunities: New tools and technologies are being developed all the time, and staying current can help you take advantage of these opportunities and improve your blog. If you’re not staying current, you may miss out on new tools and technologies that could help you grow your blog and reach a wider audience.

  4. Lack of Innovation: The blogging industry is highly competitive, and staying current can help you stay ahead of the curve and differentiate your blog from others. If you’re not staying current, your blog may become stale and uninteresting to your audience, which can result in a lack of growth.
